Katherine M.S. Larson

Managing Consultant Specializing in Aviation Noise

As a senior consultant in HMMH’s Aviation Environmental Services group, Kate manages and assists on a variety of projects such as Part 150 studies, Environmental Assessments, and quarterly noise reporting. She is experienced in the use of the FAA’s noise and air quality modeling program, AEDT, and its pre-cursor, INM. Her current projects include Boston Logan International Airport (MA), Piedmont Triad International Airport (Greensboro, NC), Sikorsky Memorial Airport (Bridgeport, CT) and New Haven Tweed Airport (CT).

Kate re-joined HMMH in 2018 after several years of teaching mathematics. In her previous role with HMMH (1989 to 1998), she participated in a wide variety of airport noise modeling projects, including multiple FAR Part 150 Studies. She was involved in the beta-testing of new INM versions and helped develop HMMH’s INM training course. Kate also worked on some highway projects with noise barrier design components.

Kate holds an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a B.A. in Mathematics and Education from Smith College.
