HMMH performed a detailed noise and vibration analysis as a part of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement phase of the Bottineau Transitway Light Rail Transit Project, which will connect the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis with the existing METRO Blue Line (Hiawatha). The objectives of this study were to measure existing noise and vibration conditions and assess potential impact from the proposed Bottineau Transitway Project. A unique challenge of this project was addressing the presence of an existing freight railroad in the project corridor.
HMMH reported on potential impacts and mitigation options for the project and provided information to the public for understanding the effects of noise and vibration. HMMH worked with the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority as well as the Metropolitan Council to finalize the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, which included a variety of preliminary noise and vibration mitigation options that may be recommended in the Final Environmental Impact Statement.
