HMMH has consistently been involved in transit studies for Houston METRO since 1983. HMMH has provided specialty consulting in the areas of noise and vibration starting with the proposed Stage I rapid transit system, continuing with the development of the Regional Transportation Plan, several transitway projects, priority corridor study, monorail system, bus system, transit center, operations facilities, and the Astrodome to Downtown Light Rail Transit Project. HMMH’s background in noise and vibration services for Houston METRO is unmatched by any other firm.
HMMH recently provided noise and vibration consulting services as part of two projects for Houston METRO: the Bus Baseline Study, and the METRO Mobility 2025 Alternatives Analysis. For the Bus Baseline Study, HMMH performed an extensive noise measurement program of the existing bus fleet in normal operating modes in addition to noise at fixed facilities. A detailed set of noise levels for bus operations will be developed as a result of the measurements. For the METRO Mobility 2025 project, HMMH conducted noise and vibration screening analyses for the Uptown West Loop, Southeast and North Hardy corridors.
