HMMH was the noise and vibration consultant for extensions to three lines of the Metra commuter rail system in Chicago, including the South West Service, the Union Pacific West Line and the North Central Service. HMMH tasks on these projects included reviewing environmental assessments, community noise monitoring, ground-borne vibration propagation testing, vibration tests of the Metra Commuter Rail vehicle, noise and vibration predictions and assessment, and design of mitigation measures. HMMH also worked with Metra to develop a noise and vibration mitigation policy consistent with Federal Transit Administration guidelines.
HMMH conducted noise and vibration analyses for improvements to the Union Pacific North and Milwaukee District North lines. Noise and vibration impact assessments were conducted for the replacement of bridges spanning cross streets. HMMH tasks included community noise monitoring, ground-borne vibration monitoring, noise and vibration predictions and assessment, and design of mitigation measures.
