Peter N. Sorensen, Ph.D.

Senior Consultant Specializing in Aviation and Federal Programs
Peter Sorensen is an accomplished aerospace engineer specializing in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and Urban Air Mobility (UAM). He earned his PhD in Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics from the University of Cincinnati, with research focused on the measurement and prediction of rotor interaction and installation effects for electric aircraft noise. His work advances industry understanding of eVTOL noise, one of the key challenges to broader AAM adoption.

With more than nine years of experience, Peter brings expertise in propulsion acoustics, noise modeling, and data analysis, including development of semi-empirical tools integrated into the Volpe Advanced Acoustic Model to assess full-scale AAM and UAS noise exposure. His background includes research at the University of Cincinnati’s Advanced Mobility Propulsion Lab, experience with Sikorsky Aircraft, and collaboration with HMMH on a NASA SBIR project. He also offers strong leadership experience, having managed and mentored teams of more than 35 personnel and driven process improvements with significant operational impact.
