Sara Kaplan

Senior Managing Consultant Specializing in Aviation Environmental Services

Sara Kaplan is a Senior Consultant in HMMH’s Aviation Environmental Services group. She is an experienced environmental engineer and sustainability practitioner with a successful track record of grant writing, program development, and project management. She has collaborated with diverse stakeholders, including governing bodies, community members, and industry groups to bring about effective projects.

Ms. Kaplan has a passion for implementing sustainability practices into her projects, drawing on her wealth of experience in traditional environmental engineering focusing on water and wastewater treatment, as well as air quality permitting, sustainable agriculture and communities, and energy efficiency and renewable energy. In her previous role, as the Sustainability Program Administrator for Wayne County Airport Authority, she worked diligently on implementing waste and carbon reduction strategies. She was able to secure state and federal funding to implement state-of-the-art sustainability programs and technologies at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Her creative problem solving, and strong analytic skills have been recognized among her colleagues and she has been an invited speaker at local and national industry conferences. She is an accomplished researcher with several publications and has served on a review panel for the Airport Cooperative Research Program.
