HMMH was responsible for noise and vibration analysis throughout the environmental impact assessment phase of this commuter rail project. TEX Rail will follow existing freight rail lines from southwest Fort Worth, through downtown Fort Worth, northeast to downtown Grapevine and then into the north entrance of Dallas Fort Worth Airport. Significant noise impact would is expected from the loud horns that normally must be sounded as trains approach grade crossings, of which there are over 60 located along the TEX Rail route. Thus, the primary noise mitigation measure that has been recommended for this project is the establishment of Quiet Zones. Services provided by HMMH for this project included the following:
- Baseline community noise monitoring
- Ground-borne vibration propagation testing
- Noise and vibration predictions and assessment
- Quiet Zone recommendations
- Noise Barrier recommendations
- Public outreach
