Solar Energy Feasibility Assessment, General Mitchell International Airport

Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) engaged HMMH to help assess the technical and financial feasibility of a utility-scale solar energy facility (defined as 1 megawatt (MW) of power) at MKE.

HMMH assessed the compatibility of solar with airport facilities and operations to identify project sites that are consistent with the future growth of the airport and do not impact its core operations. HMMH also evaluated the electricity generation potential of a specific project site, costs associated with its development and business case for proceeding. Finally, we focused on the regulatory requirements necessary to implement such a project to ensure that there are no fatal flaws to its development. The analysis was submitted in a detailed report to the airport and the Milwaukee County Environmental Department.
