HMMH recently assisted LAWA with evaluation of the potential noise impacts of the implementation of flight procedures approved in the FAA’s Southern California (SoCal) Metroplex. The SoCal Metroplex Project was intended to address specific issues related to the efficient flow of traffic into and out of the Southern California airspace. HMMH prepared analyses and exhibits to facilitate discussions with elected officials and other stakeholders and worked with LAWA to develop a best-in-class complaint handling process. We interviewed a number of airports around the world to inventory systems, identified challenges, determined best practices, and implemented those processes in anticipation of a spike in community concerns once the procedures were implemented.
