National Harbor Mixed-Use Development Noise Evaluation

HMMH conducted a noise evaluation of National Harbor, a planned mixed-use development along the shores of the Potomac River. The development includes retail shops, offices, restaurants, a hotel and convention center, condominiums and time-share residential units, and entertainment attractions possibly including a family amusement park. HMMH assessed the compatibility of the planned uses with the noise of aircraft using Reagan National Airport and with Capital Beltway (I-495) traffic. In addition, the study addressed potential effects in neighboring residential areas associated with the project’s built soundscape produced by on-site traffic, parking facilities, HVAC equipment and on-site entertainment venues.
