Christopher W. Menge

Since joining HMMH in 1983, Chris has developed a national reputation for his expertise in highway noise analysis and community noise issues relating to entertainment and recreational sources. Recently, he was the Principal Investigator for NCHRP Report 791 Supplemental Guidance on the Application of FHWA’s Traffic Noise Model (TNM). He also led the development of the acoustical algorithms for the TNM. Chris has managed many dozens of highway noise analyses and noise barrier design studies throughout his career.

In addition, Chris has given over ten presentations with published proceedings on noise analysis and control for race tracks, theme parks, roller coasters and snowmobiles. Since 1978, Chris has been an active member of professional organizations including the Institute of Noise Control Engineering, the Acoustical Society of America and the Transportation Research Board Committee on Transportation-related Noise and Vibration.

Chris holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of New Hampshire and pursued Graduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Northeastern University.
